Halal Dining

Our Office takes Halal dining very seriously and we have provided years of thorough training and guidance to the staff and administrators of Harvard University Dining Services about the significance and importance of Halal diet for Muslims.

All dining halls and cafés that are operated by Harvard University Dining Services (HUDS) provide Halal meat options, including beef, chicken and lamb. Halal protein items are clearly labeled in all HUDS operated dining halls across the University and if you are in doubt concerning the lawfulness of an item, we encourage you to ask a dining staff member whether an item is Halal or not.

All grills operated by HUDS offer Halal burgers and Halal grilled chicken sandwiches. Some HUDS dining halls, such as the one in the Kennedy School and Chan School of Public Health provide, Halal chicken tenders and Halal burgers daily and available upon request. Separate utensils and grills are used. The following is a list of HUDS dining halls across all Harvard campus:

  • All Dining halls at Harvard College (including Annenberg and in all upperclassmen houses/dorms)
  • Harvard Law School
  • GSAS (Griffen Graduate School) – Dudley Cafe
  • Harvard Kennedy School
  • Harvard Divinity School Café
  • Harvard Chan School of Public Health

Harvard Medical School and Business School dining halls are operated by Restaurant Depot (not HUDS) and only provide Halal options upon prior request.
